Student Accommodation

One of the most important decisions for any international student coming to Australia is deciding where to live. However, with so many different styles of accommodation available, which is the best for you?

With students coming down under to study from far abroad, and from many different backgrounds and upbringings, Australia has well and truly catered to all, and you are sure to find a style of living that suits your needs, desires, and importantly budget too.

Dedicated Student Accommodation

Dedicated Student Accommodation
If your budget can stretch a little and you're looking for something perhaps a little fancier, a stay in some dedicated student accommodation might be more up your alley. These places are custom designed for students, and they are typically located in locations near major universities, as well as being serviced by excellent amenities including bars, eateries and public transport.

When looking for dedicated student accommodation, it is important to ask yourself the following questions:

- Am I comfortable spending more in return for luxury and comfort?
- Do you want a room to yourself or are you happy to share?
- Do I want to live right in the city? (dedicated student accommodation tends to be very central and urban)

Share House

 Share House

The sometimes infamous student share house has played a part in many of our lives in years past. While it's no secret that they can be very hit and miss, they are generally considered to be a great option for meeting both like-minded individuals who are easy to relate to, as well as perhaps others that you might not have typically spent a considerable amount of time with.

When looking for a share house, it is important to ask yourself the following questions
:

- How many others are you willing to live with?
- Do you want a room to yourself or are you happy to share?
- Are the bills (utilities, internet) included?
- Will my name be added to the lease?

Homestays are another popular form of accommodation for students from abroad. A homestay is essentially where you are placed with, and live with a family for the duration of your stay in Australia. Homestay hosts are great because they come from many cultural backgrounds and they are truly interested in enjoying a shared cultural experience with their students. When going through a trusted provider, you can be confident that your host family has been carefully selected, and that they will provide a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment.

When looking for a homestay, it is important to ask yourself the following questions
:

- How many others are you willing to live with?
- Are you willing to live with a family, potentially with pets and young children?
- Are you willing to socialise with the family?
