Will Covid-19 impact the delivery of my ISIC?
All applications will be processed as usual.
Only additional plastic cards or partner plastic cards will be placed on hold until further notice.
This means that if you order an 'additional plastic card' to your virtual card order or are a member of a co-branded partner that has plastic cards, you will still receive your virtual card version as usual, however the physical plastic card will only be printed and sent out to you once our team is able to return to the office and resume with printing operations.

What is ISIC?
The International Student Identity Card (ISIC) is the only internationally recognised proof of full-time student status. The card shows to all displayed, that you, the cardholder are a full-time student, as well as enabling you access to over 150,000 discounts around the world.

We have recently transitioned the majority of cards issued in Australia (ISIC, IYTC & ITIC) to the virtual option. The virtual card can be used anywhere the plastic card is accepted. The app is your own stop shop for finding discounts, storing your favourite discounts and accessing your card!

To access the virtual card, you simply need to download the ISIC app through the App Store or Google Play. You can then log in using your name and your ISIC serial number with the letters (e.g. S06400112456X). You will be emailed your serial number once your card application has been approved. I’d love to use my card as proof of identity. Can I?
The ISIC card proves that you are a full-time student. Whether it can be used as a proof of identification depends from country to country. It is always best to check the local regulations before you arrive in your destination.
I don't have a smartphone. What can I do?
If you don't have a smartphone compatible with the app, you have the option of selecting a physical card for an extra $8. We will print and dispatch your card to any Australian address.
How much do the cards cost?
An ISIC, IYTC or ITIC card will set you back $30 AUD – a bargain when compared to the hundreds you will save!
But I’m not a student?
Don’t panic, we have a couple of super alternatives for you!

- If you are not a full-time student, however 30 years old or younger at the time of application, the International Youth Travel Card (IYTC) is the card for you.
- If you’re a full-time teacher or professor, the International Teacher Identity Card (ITIC) is the card for you.

The IYTC and ITIC cards both offer similar benefits and discounts to the ISIC.


How do I get an ISIC card online?
Please note - all ISIC cards ordered on this website from the 1st of March 2018 will be issued as virtual cards with the user redeeming benefits via their virtual card on the free ISIC App. If you require a plastic card, you can do so at the time of submitting your application for an additional $8 (including express shipping).

How do I get an ISIC card in-store?
If you would prefer to apply in person, head in to your local STA Travel Australia store.

Please note for all cards issued in an STA Travel store in Australia you will not receive a plastic card, just a virtual card. This works the same way and you can redeem discounts via the ISIC App on your smartphone.

If applying in store please remember to bring along with you all the necessary documents you need to prove your identity and full-time student status.
I’m not sure if I am a full-time student?
Typically, studying full-time entails at least 15 hours of study a week, for a minimum of 12 weeks per year. There is no age limit on the ISIC card.
How long are the cards valid for?
The ISIC, IYTC and ITIC cards are all valid for one year from the date of application.
I'm ready to apply, what do I need for my ISIC application?
The ISIC (International Student Identity Card) is available for full-time students, so you’ll need to be able to prove you are currently studying full-time at school, college or university.

When applying, please provide any of the following documents:
- Screenshot of units you are currently enrolled in (showing your name on the image)
- Letter from your school/university stating you are enrolled on a full-time basis
- A student card stating full time/concession sticker

We’ll also need from you:
- Proof of your date of birth (for example: passport, birth certificate, official identity card)
- A recent passport-style photo (can be a selfie too!)
I'm ready to apply, what do I need for my IYTC application?
The International Youth Travel Card (IYTC) is for anyone aged between 12 and 30 years old who are not full-time student.

When applying, you’ll just need to be able to prove your age with any of the following documents:
- Passport
- Birth certificate
- Official identity card

We’ll also need from you a recent passport-style photo (can be a selfie too!)
I’m ready to apply, what do I need for my ITIC application?
The International Teacher Identity Card (ITIC) is for full-time teachers or professors.

When applying, you’ll just need a letter from your employer stating that you are employee of a recognised school, college or university for at least 18 hours per week, for a minimum of 1 academic year.

We’ll also need a recent passport-style photo of yourself (can be a selfie too!)
I have completed my application online. How long will it take to get my card?
Customers with correctly ordered virtual ISIC/IYTC/ITIC cards will receive a confirmation email immediately with the order details. ISIC will process and approve the application within 24hrs (during business days), or contact the applicant via email if further information is required. Once the virtual card application has been approved the customer will receive another email providing them with the serial number. This number can then be used to access the virtual card via the ISIC App. It is the responsibility of the card applicant to download the app and sign up for an account, through which they can access their virtual card.

Please note timeframes on plastic card delivery:
Plastic cards are printed every Tuesday morning and dispatched as per the order details, via Australia Post. (this includes completed and approved orders received the prior Tuesday-Monday)
If you have any concerns or queries regarding your plastic card order please email support@isic.com.au including your order number, full name and email address used on your application.
I applied for a card through STA Travel. What happens now?
If you have purchased in-store, your travel expert will be your point of contact. If you have purchased online through STA Travel, you should receive an email shortly asking to provide the necessary documentation. Following this, your card will be approved and issued.
My card has not arrived yet!
Not to worry, just get in touch with us (email support@isic.com.au) and we’ll look into it for you.

Please note the ISIC office will be closed from Monday 23rd December 2019 to Monday 6th January 2020. All cards ordered during this time will be processed from the 6th January. Why does my card look different to others I have seen?
It looks different because it is brand new! That's right, we have recently gone through an entire brand refresh. It functions exactly as it always has, just more beautifully! Please bear with us in the meantime as we phase out our old look cards.

New Card Design

Is it okay if I have both a plastic and virtual card and they look different to each other?
Yes, this is absolutely okay! As long as they have the same serial number and their date of validity is still current, both cards will still function as per normal.
My card has the old design. Will it still work?
Yes, of course! Regardless of being of old or new design, virtual and plastic cards remain valid as long as their dates of validity are still current.
I am going overseas. Will my card work?
Most certainly! The brand refresh is being rolled out globally, and as a result benefit partners from all over the world have been notified that there will for a period of time be cards of new and old design in circulation.
